The Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia is the largest salt flat in the world. During the wet season, water from the neighboring lakes, Poopó and Titicaca, overflows and discharges onto the Salar de Uyuni, submerging the seemingly-endless salt plain beneath a couple inches of water.
Last May, landscape photographer Daniel Kordan decided to take advantage of the flood season and journeyed to the Salar de Uyuni to capture the astronomic magnificence of The Milky Way galaxy. The collection of photographs is indescribably stunning as the shallow water acted as an endless mirror for the sequin celestial symphony, complete with the blushing blue and purple streaks of the immense gaseous formations of the inner galaxy.
