Posited on the iconic Amalfi Coast, the small picturesque town of Atrani is undeservedly less known than others in the region. Embedded between the Civita Hill and Aureo Hill, along the river of Dragone, Atrani features some very scenic views. Incidentally it often serves as a set for the films and commercials, since its surroundings, alleys, lemon groves and staircases are incredibly photogenic.
The town boasts a range of historic architecture from various eras. From the Medieval Church of San Salvatore de’ Birecto built in the 10th century, the 15th century’s fortress of Torre dello Ziro, to the fine Rococo facade of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene Penitent – everything has a long history here. Today Atrani attracts those, who are looking for the most beautiful and tranquil escape, far away from an urban noise into a historic haven.
Why to go there?: One of the smallest towns on the Amalfi Coast however is rich with historic architecture, lush greenery and breathtaking panoramic views. There is a small sandy beach with crystal blue water, perfect for bathing and swimming.
When to go there?: Anytime, since Atrani drops into the mild Mediterranean climate zone. Although summer is the warmest and greenest season.
How to get there?: It is only five minutes walk from Amalfi! Also you can get around the coast by boat or car.
